Mammoth

Woolly Mammoths, Dave and Minarets

This is a blurred view of the current color sketch of my  Mammoth poster. It will continue to slightly evolve detail wise, but it's pretty much there and is ready to pre-order if you'd like to secure a first, second or third numbered edition.

My research trip was in Feb 2023, things that stood out:  A full size realistic  woolly mammoth display at mid mountain, and mini natural history museum on the summit! Big presence of Dave McCoy, huge pictures and statue.  Giant trees and giant pine cones everywhere and the view of the Minarets. The cartoony stacked lettering is inspired by the comically high and bending piles of snow in the village, the very nearby Devils Postpile and the cartoony Woolly signs still around.  A big part of the experience of this resort is the mammoth 5hr drive so many make from SoCal, so the branches of the trees will all be sections of highway 395, plus Dave is wearing a beanie to symbolize the giant beanie billboards near Bishop. Also hidden in the trees is a raven as a nod to all the Chris Bentchetler murals, a hidden Roma McCoy, the stone tree on the wall of the base lodge . Colors: Brown- the mammoth's fur/tree bark and pine cones. Green - for the army green lift houses and Dave's use of surplus WWII army cats in the early days. Yellow - for the California sunshine and the premiere spring skiing here.

If you are a big Mammoth Mtn fan/season pass holder let me know soon if I missed anything and I'll probably add it.
